Pendennis Brass from Cornwall has announced the appointment of a new MD.
Originally founded in 1980 as Falmouth Town Band the nationally graded Third Section band was conducted for 25 years by founder member Glyn Thomas.
A new era now begins in their 40th year with the appointment of Ben Elliott.
Experience
Ben first joined Pendennis Brass in his early teens, and went on the gain invaluable experience playing principal trumpet with the Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra, as well as depping with many bands throughout the county.
In 2014, he was accepted into the Royal Marines Band Service, undergoing three years of training at the Royal Marines School of Music in Portsmouth before being drafted to the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Plymouth in 2017, where he remains today.
That experience now includes a wealth of musical experience in many different ensembles, genres and styles gained across the musical world.
Excited
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Ben is very much a product of Pendennis Brass and is excited to return to the Pendennis family in this new role.
He has told us that he is especially looking forward to working with such a fun loving and welcoming band."
