Philip Harper and the players will be on hand all weekend

Cory Band has announced that there is only a short time left to register for the on-line Cory Band Welsh Youth Brass Weekend.

The free event takes place on the weekend of the 29th/30th August and will comprise a full and varied timetable of sectionals, full band rehearsals, masterclasses, competitive events and fun for any young Welsh brass or percussion player up to the age of 22.

Two bands

MD Philip Harper and euphonium star Glyn Williams will be leading two bands: Grades 1-5 (Glyn) and Grades 6 and above (Phil) to cater for as wide a cross-section of abilities as possible.

Sectional tutors will be Cory principal players Steve Stewart, Tom Hutchinson, Helen Williams, Ailsa Russell, Steve Kane, Chris Thomas, Simon Howell and Steve Jones.

There is an exciting selection of music including Philip's Welsh-inspired 'Kingdom of Dragons' and 'Castell Coch' alongside 'Balkan Dance' for the Grade 6 Band, whilst 'Liberty Bell', 'Puttin' on the Ritz' and Alan Fernie's exciting 'Prismatic Light' will be tackled by the Grades 1-5 Band.

The free event on the weekend of the 29th/30th August and will comprise a full and varied timetable of sectionals, full band rehearsals, masterclasses, competitive events and fun for any young Welsh brass or percussion player up to the age of 22.

Hutchinson masterclass
