Foden's set to welcome the world to Armagh

The annual Armagh Summer School will be a virtual event this year — lead by tutors from Foden's Band and open to players from around the world.

There is plenty of things to do on the course!

Despite not being able to make their annual trip to Armagh this year, Foden's Band will still be helping players enjoy a great musical experience.

For the past 19 years tutors from the Sandbach band have headed to Northern Ireland to take part in the week-long Brass Band Summer School for players of all ages and abilities — so it came as little surprise that the organisers were determined to make sure it carried on even in virtual form!

Virtual Summer School

And after many weeks of planning and zoom meetings it has been confirmed that a 'Virtual Summer School' will take place on-line on Saturday 22nd August — allowing players from around the world to enjoy the music making.

Using their experience of running events, the course will be structured to allow interactive learning and performance opportunities with masterclasses focusing on practising, breathing, range, conducting, warm ups, composition, improvisation and a quiz.

Tutors will include Anthony Mann, Shaun Farrington, Mark Wilkinson, Gary Curtin, John Barber, Michael Fowles, Jonathan Bates, Mark Bousie, Richard Poole and Lesley Poole.
