Scottish Borders contest cancelled

Another brass band event is cancelled as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the contesting calendar.

Cancelled
Another brass band contest is cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic in the UK.

The Scottish Borders Brass Band Association has confirmed the cancellation of its popular Borders Entertainment Contest.

It was to have taken place on Saturday 7th November at the Buccleuch Centre in Langholm, but the ongoing restrictions in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic has made this impossible.

Tough situation

SBBBA President, Scott Renwick told 4BR: "Unfortunately we have become another banding event to suffer at the hands of this hard hitting virus.

Cancelling was the understandable thing to do but not being able to meet as a brass band community remains a much tougher situation. This is the only annual contest organised by us, but after taking the Scottish Government recommendations into consideration, it was vital to cancel to safeguard everyone involved."

2021 return

He added: "Finally, SBBBA hopes that all our local bands and friends from further afield who return to the Borders each year to support our contest are safe and well and we hope to see them again in November 2021."
