The Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association (scaba) has cancelled all its 'face to face' activities for the remainder of 2020.
It follows the recent Government announcement that amateur singers, wind and brass musicians should not be playing in groups issued by Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Disappointment
In the announcement made on its website scaba stated that it shared "the disappointment"at the latest development, but that it would "encourage all of our member bands to follow the current guidance."
As a result its schedule of events has been cancelled for the rest of the year, including their popular Brass Festival and proposed Autumn contest. The programme for the Southern Counties Youth Band (SCYB) has also been out on hold.
2021 return
They stated: "We are planning to resume our usual calendar of events in 2021, starting with the Spring contest if the situation and government guidance permits it, and will update if and when we have news on this later in the year."
