City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) Band has announced the signing of Cerys Hughes as their new flugel player.
The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama student re-joins the south Wales band after gaining experience playing with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and more recently Tongwynlais Temperance.
Busy
Cerys has also been keeping busy over the last few months with a number of well received solo and group videos on social media.
She will take over the role from the experienced Rob Nesbitt, who now moves onto the back row cornet section.
Working hard
The band is currently working on their socially isolated submission for the Cory online competition where they hope to make an impression after enjoying an encouraging start to the truncated year with a runner-up finish at the Welsh Open and fourth place in the Welsh Area, which propelled them to their highest ever 4BR world ranking.
