The reigning Netherlands National Champion, Brass Band Schoonhoven has announced that they have appointed Christian Overhead as their new Composer in Residence.
Musical link
It strengthens the musical link between the British born writer and the band which has flourished in recent years with his compositions such as 'Fanfare in Orange' and 'Intrada for Rouen', but also in collaborating for the Brass in Concert Championships where in 2017 he wrote 'Underground Concerto' for their euphonium star Robbert Vos.
Outstanding band
Talking about the news, Christian told 4BR: "It's an honour to take on the role with such an outstanding band.
I was of course fortunate to play with them for four years making many lifelong friends in the process, so this is like coming home really. I know just what this fantastic band is capable of, and how receptive they are to new repertoire.
He added: "With some great ideas for future projects already in the pipeline, I'm looking forward to what I'm sure will be an exciting and fruitful partnership!"
We are very excited to see what this partnership will bring, and look forward to performing many of his pieces to new audiences as soon as possibleBrass Band Schoonhoven
