Dewsbury contest cancelled

The Yorkshire & Humberside BBA contest due to take place in Dewsbury later this year has been cancelled — but will return next year.

The popular contest may be cancelled this eyar but will return in 2021.

The 2020 Yorkshire & Humberside Brass Band Association annual contest, which was to have taken place at Dewsbury Town Hall on Sunday 25th October has been cancelled due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 restrictions.

Back in 2021

Contest Administrator Adam Whittle told 4BR that unfortunately the decision had to be made, but that the contest will return in 2021.

"We had hoped to 'ride the storm' and proceed with our contest post lockdown, but this has proved impossible. Based on current guidance, rehearsals and performances are still restricted making our contest not viable for this year.

We will return in 2021 and will provide dates and information as soon as possible. We hope that you will continue to support the YHBBA next year and in the mean time, stay safe and well."
