The Pemberton Band has responded quickly to the loss of principal cornet Tom Smith to rivals Fairey, with the welcome news that the highly respected Joanne Johnson returns to fill the role.
Part of my life
Speaking about coming back Joanne told 4BR: "I'm delighted to return after a short break away due to work and family commitments. Pemberton has been part of my life for over twenty years — right from their development from Fourth Section to Championship Section and our appearance at the National Finals at the Albert Hall.
Joanne added: "I jumped at the chance when Ben asked me to be part of this great organisation again. I'm looking forward to getting back to rehearsals and seeing everyone in person for some great and exciting times ahead."

Outstanding quality
Musical Director Ben Dixon was understandably pleased about the return too: "Joanne brings back her wealth of knowledge and experience as a principal cornet.
Having worked with her before her brief hiatus due to work commitments I'm excited for this next chapter and the outstanding quality Joanne will bring to the band."
He added: "The band would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his time with us and wish him every success in his future endeavours."
