The death has been announced of William Alan Travers Bruton. He passed away peacefully on Friday 15th May at the age of 91.
Bill, as he was more commonly known in the banding world was a lifelong member of the Nailsworth Silver Band.
Loyal servant
At the age of 17 Bill joined the then Nailsworth & Horsley Silver Band on 'G' trombone and remained a loyal servant for the rest of his banding life. He had the great joy of playing with many of his family, and also spent many years as a much respected Band Chairman and later Band President.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a fitting tribute to Bill that the band recently won the Fourth Section West of England Regional Championship title — a result that made him exceptionally proud."
