Parliamentary congratulations for NHS band initiative

The superb NHS Workers Brass Band that went the extra 500 miles to say thank you has been congratulated by the Scottish Parliament.

NHS Scotland
The NHS Workers Brass Band's performance has made a huge impression

The Scottish Parliament has sent official acknowledgement to trombone player Eilidh Houston from Irvine to congratulate her for leading a virtual brass of NHS workers in their social media performance of '500 Miles' by the pop dup 'The Proclaimers'.

Happiness

It came from a motion lodged by Ruth Maguire MSP, the member for Cunninghame South, and noted that Eilidh, who is a second year nursing student with NHS Ayrshire & Arran, as well as playing with Johnstone Band, wanted "to bring some happiness amid the negativity and anxiety over COVID-19".

Colleagues from the health board and also from NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Dumfries & Galloway took part in the online performance.

Spreads joy

The congratulatory certificate which recorded the event in Parliament was headlined 'NHS Virtual Band Spreads Joy' and added that the Scottish Parliament "congratulates Eilidh for her innovative idea and wishes everyone involved with this all the best for the future".
