The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBB) and National Childrens Brass Band of Great Britain (NCBB) will be looking to take an innovative approach to linking up with the youngsters who were due to take part in this year's residential Summer School courses.
Virtual course
The organisation team is will now look into the possibility of a 'virtual course' through the use of social media technology due to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
The move reflects the success that has been seen in holding board meetings of the organisation on-line in the last few months as well as the growing use of social media tools that has developed all over the UK.
Opportunity
The NYBB's board of trustees has initiated discussions with Repton School, the planned location for the 2020 courses, with NYBB Chairman, Dr Robert Childs seeing the cancellations as an opportunity to explore new and exciting way to connect to the players.
"The decision to cancel both residential courses was a very difficult one to make, but in the current era of social distancing and in light of the ongoing pandemic, we felt it was the right one to make. The safety of all those who take part was paramount."
There is so much potential with the ideas that are being discussed so watch out for what we hope to doDr Robert Childs
New venture
He added: "However, we are seeing many people take an innovative approach to the situation and with our players fully understanding just how new technology and social media works, we felt it would be an exciting new venture.
There is so much potential with the ideas that are being discussed so watch out for what we hope to do."
