The death of Roy Marsden of the Kippax Band has been announced.

The Kippax Band has announced the death of their highly popular tuba player Roy Marsden. He passed away on Sunday 26th April at the age of 84.

Loyal contributor

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Roy was a loyal contributor to the band, a highly respected player with over 30 years service, who during that time occupied seats from solo trombone to Bb bass.

He also served as both Chairman and Band Secretary at various times, and his guidance coupled with his ability in business made the purchase of our very own Social Club along with Keith Fairburn and others a reality. Until very recently, Roy was a regular visitor and band supporter at both rehearsals and performances."

Roy's sage wisdom, both as a businessman and a bandsman were still regularly sought and appreciated when we met at Kippax Band Social Club until very recentlyKippax Band

Wisdom

Band Chairman Colin Moss added: "Roy's sage wisdom, both as a businessman and a bandsman were still regularly sought and appreciated when we met at Kippax Band Social Club until very recently.

On behalf of all Kippax Band, we send condolences to his family and loved ones, as we miss him as a member of our own banding family."
