The Dr Martin Wainstone Cup contest has announced that it is accepting entries for its proposed event that is due to take place at the Princess Alexander Auditorium, Yarm School Stockton on Tees on Sunday the 20th of September.
Shine a light
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are fully aware of the current issues, as well as guidelines and regulations that are in place concerning the Coronavirus pandemic in the UK, and we will be monitoring these closely.
We do wish to a shine a potential light on the future however, so if and when the current issues are resolved we could go ahead and hold the event. We are therefore asking bands to register their entry interest with us."
As in previous years competing Championship Section bands must perform a march, soloist item and own-choice test-piece, with the winner heading home with a hefty cheque for £4,000 in their pocket.
Rule changes
This year there will be a slight amendment to the rules, with the bands having to perform a march written by the legendary George Allan, whilst to help bands attend, the organisers will allow up to four borrowed players on the day.
In addition to the £4,000 first prize there are podium prizes of £2,000 and £1,000, with the fourth placed band winning £500. There is an additional £250 on offer for the 'Best March' and 'Best Soloist'. Each band will also receive £400 towards their travel expenses.
Refund
In the event that issues related to Covid-19 remain unresolved all bands will receive a full refund; a final decision to proceed will be made in lieu of the pre-draw on 26th August 2020.
