The North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) has announced the list of set-works that will be used at their 2021 National Championship.
In a post on their Facebook page on April 19th it was also stated that NABBA is looking to arrange for Brighouse & Rastrick Band to perform at the event. Although they also state that the "agreement in principle"is not yet official due to the current "difficulties and unknowns", they add that it is "our honest plan to make this happen if at all possible".
Set work choices
The test-pieces include a new composition, currently in progress from the pen of Paul Lovatt-Cooper for the Championship Section, as well as a new work entitled 'Grieg Variations' by Jonathan Bates for the Second Section.
'Blitz' by Derek Bourgeois will be a demanding test of bands in the First Section, whilst 'Hope' by Dorothy Gates, written to reflect her feelings and questions as 'an odyssey of faith' over the injustice of the killing of seven Palestinian children in 2008, is the Third Section set-work.
Eric Ball's iconic 'Resurgam' will be used in the Championship Section of the Youth Championship alongside Stephen Bulla's popular 'Images for Brass'.
