Allan Withington has taken his popular Conducting School on-line — with the usual mic of innovation and intensity now brought straight into your home to improve your baton work.

Over the past decade or more Allan Withington has brought his mix of musical innovation and intensity, excitement and experience to benefit delegates from across the world who attend his annual Conducting Summer School.

Digital course

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 event which was to be held in its regular location of Leeuwarden in the Netherlands had to be cancelled, but with his well known reputation for innovation, Allan and Course Administrator Anja Abma have decided to make it a digital course instead.

The 12th course will now become the Allan Withington Digital Conducting School — using ZOOM technology to link up with delegates who wish to participate across ever corner of the musical world.

Creative solution

Allan told 4BR: "Because of the present situation we are unable to organise this year's course in the usual way, but we didn't want to miss out on reaching out to musicians.

The course will return in June 2021, but we thought we could also use the lockdown to explore a creative solution, so came up with the idea of the Digital Conductor School."

Packages to suit

Alan added: "It still means that we can offer a variety of teaching packages — from a simple one hour problem solving or conducting technique session, through to a series of three lessons, or an ongoing development series of six lessons.

Each lesson is carefully designed to cover different aspects of this fascinating profession and caters to the individual needs of each student, so please get in touch and find out more — we are here to help and engage with conductors of all levels and abilities — all from the comfort of your own home!"
