Clogs, Rain and Boris Johnson keep the banding world entertained

Some great self isolated brass band performances to enjoy from Haverhill, Fairlop and Whitburn as bands continue to keep us all entertained during the lockdown.

More bands are doing their bit to entertain the musical world with their efforts to support front line care and essential workers as well as keep imploring the message to stay at home and be safe from the Coronavirus.

Clog Dance

Haverhill Band's remote recording of the famous 'Clog Dance' was recently aired on BBC Radio Suffolk as part of their tribute to all NHS staff and key workers.

MD Paul Filby told listeners on the daily Lesley Dolphin show that the choice was made to provide something lively and cheerful, whilst also keeping the players engaged in a band activity in what is their 200th anniversary.

Singing in the Rain

Fairlop Brass has also given it a great crack.

The Third Section band has had a great response to their performance of 'Isolation in the Rain' — with a nod of appreciation to Gene Kelly — although there was no sign in the video of Morecambe and Wise...

Stars and Stripes

Meanwhile, up in Scotland, Whitburn has even enlisted the help of Prime Minister Boris Johnson as they linked up over social media for their recording of 'The Stars and Stripes Forever' — (although curiously President Trump declined the offer to be part of it)

Mind you, the lyrics of 'Stay at Home, Stay at Home, Stay at Home' do work rather well...

September 11 • We have a solo horn vacancy to join our friendly 3rd section band. We have a sensible calendar of contests and concerts.. Situated with close links to the M11/M25 and Central line tube station, with our own band room.. Rehearsals Monday night 8-10pm.


Delph Band

September 9 • We are a friendly, hardworking North West 2nd Section band based in Saddleworth. Rehearsal nights are Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-10pm at Delph Band Club. We are currently looking to fill the following positions; Tutti Cornet, Percussion and Eb Bass.
