Mode for...Publishing has been making a mark with the help given to players and bands

During the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, Mode for's...Director and mental health advocate Tabby Kerwin has been focussing on the wellbeing and mental health of musicians throughout the brass band movement.

Through Mode for...Publishing, Tabby has made available 100 solos, all the 'Mode for...Brass!' teaching methods and some ensemble music, all for free.

Stay inspired

"It's important our brass band musicians stay inspired during the current climate and that's why I've made so much music available for free so musicians have plenty of new music to keep themselves entertained."

"I'm also very keen to support the mental health of our brass band musicians through these difficult times, hence I created the first online band rehearsal.

Tuesday 31st March was the third week of rehearsals and we've had around 70 musicians each rehearsal for music and a post rehearsal chat. There's lots of laughs and fun!"

Musical activity

Tabby explained: "When it was declared that non-essential gatherings should be cancelled I knew something had to be done for the mental health of many brass musicians as, for them, going to band is essential for their mental health and wellbeing.

Not just for the Musical activity but for the social connection and that is especially true now we are in lockdown."

Tabbby concluded: "It is so important for me now more than ever to support the mental health of musicians in the brass band movement so, between free music, online rehearsals and my 'Brass on the Mind' drop in sessions for people to chat and get support, I hope that personally and through Mode for... I am helping others to support their mental health and get through these times."

Time, place and details

Rehearsals take place on Tuesday nights at 7.00pm and all music is supplied.

All details of free music and rehearsals can be found at www.facebook.com/modefor or www.modeforpublishing.com
