Monday mornings are a bit different at the moment, so why not try and work out our little quiz to win a couple of great brass band CDs.
We will be posting regular quiz questions to win prizes over the coming weeks — some harder than others — but all a bit of fun to keep you in a good musical mood at home.
We have two of the latest brass band CDs up for grabs today — with Black Dyke's 'Symphonies for Brass' and the 'Epic Euphoniums Project'.
All you have to do is come up with the link between the following... and explain why.
Question:
What links Percy Fletcher, Gilbert Vinter and Edward Gregson to something unfinished by Franz Schubert, the 94th by Haydn and one of the Angel Interceptor pilots in the 1960s television series Captain Scarlet?

Trombone winner:
We had a fantastic response to our Rosetti Series 5 alto trombone quiz. The winner was Robin Mansfield from Midway just outside Burton on Trent.
He used to play with the Newhall Band for many years — playing with them at Belle Vue and the Albert Hall in the days under MD Ernest Woodhouse. He remains a keen brass band fan, going to the Area contest and buying CDs.
He still keeps his lip in trim on the tenor horn and has a young grandson who is showing promise and interest as a player — with a possible eye on that trombone!
Robin correctly made the 'Miller' link between a former husband of Marilyn Monroe (Arthur), a character in the children's television programme 'Camberwick Green' (Windy), the captain of the 1983 Aberdeen football team that won the European Cup Winner's Cup (Willie)... and a famous American big-band leader played on film by actor James Stewart (Glenn).
