The Milnrow Band has announced the appointment of John Doyle as their new Musical Director.
The former Black Dyke and Leyland Band player recently enjoyed a successful tenure at Northop Silver Band which included victory at the 2019 Senior Cup and qualification to the National Final at the Royal Albert Hall.
Closer to home
With an increasingly busy schedule of conducting and adjudication appointments he relinquished the role, but was delighted to link up with the ambitious top flight band which is much closer to his north-west home.
John's first official engagement was due to be at the band's 150th Celebration Concert, but unfortunately this was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It is now hoped that event will be held as soon as it is possible.
We would like to wish Chris all the very best for the future, both as a soloist and conductor and welcome John to what will be a very exciting musical futureMilnrow Band
Thanks
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We would like to take the opportunity to thank our conductors over the last six months, with a special mention to Chris Binns.
Chris stepped in at very short notice to take us to the Scottish Open and then helped us to secure an excellent fifth place finish at the North West Regional Championships.
We would like to wish Chris all the very best for the future, both as a soloist and conductor and welcome John to what will be a very exciting musical future."
