The Brass Band Association of New Zealand (BBANZ) has announced the line-up of players who have gained the honour of being named as members of the 2020 National Brass Band of New Zealand.
History
The band was first organised for a famous tour to the UK in 1953 — one which was marked, not only by their artistry and showmanship in playing over 170 concerts and marching displays, but also by winning the British Open title under the baton of Ken Smith.
There have been 20 incarnations since — and it remains a singular honour for both a conductor and player to be chosen. The last National Band came runner-up at the 2017 Kerkrade World Championships.
