North East Derbyshire District Council has confirmed that it has cancelled its Festival of Brass contest which was due to take place on 21st June.
Due to the ongoing concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic and with the safety of all involved being paramount, it was felt that the decision had to be made.
Difficult time
Leader of the Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, MBE, told 4BR: "All efforts are being made to protect the residents and businesses in the District at this difficult time and the Festival of Brass is something we were looking forward to.
However, all our efforts are needed to ensure people are staying at home to reduce the spread of this virus."
While June is some time away, it makes sense to take precautionary advice and postpone the event until such time that we can host it once morespokesperson
Thanks
He added: "While June is some time away, it makes sense to take precautionary advice and postpone the event until such time that we can host it once more. We thank all the bands that were due to take part for their support and all the very best for the future.
We will be establishing a new date for this amazing festival as soon as we can and look forward to welcoming bands, players and supporters once again. Bands will be refunded in full and notified of the new date, time and venue in due course."
