Brighouse & Rastrick has recreated its hit signature tune 'The Floral Dance' as a 'living room concert' encore to ensure that fans across the world can still enjoy the West Riding band in action.
Bands at all levels are now coming up with great ideas to reach out to audiences, with Brighouse following in the tracks of Cory and Brass Band Willebroek amongst others to put a smile on the faces around the globe at this troubled time.
Virtual performance
The players filmed themselves playing at home on their phone and tablet devices before the clips were edited by percussionist Jonathan Kenna to create the virtual performance.
The band reached number 2 in the UK singles chart in 1977 under the baton of Derek Broadbent, who arranged the piece (kept off the number 1 spot only by Paul McCartney and Wings), with the band appearing on the BBC programme Top of the Pops.
Lifted the spirits
Natalie Morrison, who co-ordinated the project and plays cornet in the band told 4BR: "We absolutely loved making the video and we are so pleased to see how it has lifted the spirits of so many people already.
It took a lot of hard work to put together, in particular from Jonathan. As a member of the police force he is a key worker and has managed to fit in many hours of editing alongside his currently very demanding job.
We are now excited about the next stage of the project — to get the whole community involved as they get the chance to play, sing, dance or clap along to our video."
