The Amersham Band is launching the final phase of their fundraising for a new rehearsal facility by taking part in the new Crowdfunding initiative Aviva Community Fund.
Further growth
Band Chairman, Fred Harrison told 4BR: "The band wants to extend the accessibility of learning music throughout the local community. We have ambitious plans for further growth including establishing a new Youth Band and launching a Brass Academy for teaching."
The band has already risen over £380,000 through grants, donations and local fundraising events — enough to fund the construction of the main building. Work on that is well underway but funds are needed for 'fitting out' and for outside work such as car parking and access.
End in sight
Speaking to 4BR about the project, MD Paul Fisher said that it was so exciting that the end is now in sight.
"It has already been a remarkable effort by remarkable people — all dedicated and committed to providing Amersham and its surrounding communities with a musical hub of inclusivity and excellence.
We can all see that final chord looming in the distance, but we want to get there as soon as possible and start increasing participation in music making. We have over 120 people of all ages and abilities already part of the organisation and we want to build on that even more."

Community opportunities
Band Chairman, Fred Harrison added: "Our new bandroom facility will enable us to offer the opportunity to make music to many more people in our community, both young and old alike."
The band provides instruments on loan and has a bursary fund to support those who are financially disadvantaged.
