The National Youth Concert Band is holding its 2020 course later this year, with the week rounded off with a concert on Saturday 11th April featuring the acclaimed BBC Symphony Orchestra trombonist, Helen Vollam.
Fantastic week
Musical Director Jonathan Parkes told 4BR: "It's going to be a fantastic week, rounded off with the concert at the Elgar Hall at Birmingham University (2.30pm).
Helen will be performing an exciting work entitled, 'Kirkfield' by Grant Kirkhope.
The band will also give the world premiere of 'Now You Can Believe' by Los Angeles based composer Anne Chmelewsky, whilst the players will be working on performances of 'Masque' by Kenneth Hesketh, 'Aue!' by Christopher Marshall and Guy Woolfenden's 'Gallimaufry' amongst others."
Brilliant tutors
He added: "The line-up of tutors is brilliant, with players from both the brass band and orchestral worlds, and the course offers a great cross-over opportunity for players."
