Saxhorn Fest gains international flavour

Why not get along and enjoy a great weekend of horn and baritone expertise and music making with Katrina Marzella, Helen Varley and friends.

Details of the forthcoming 'Saxhorn Fest 2020' have been announced. Founded by the highly respected baritone and tenor performers Katrina Marzella and Helen Varley the event is now in its third year.

Its growing scope and popularity is built on a series of masterclasses, recitals, concert performances, discussions and lectures from some of the world's leading saxhorn exponents and musicians to players and enthusiasts of all standards.

International guest

This year the event on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th February, welcomes its first international guest, the Belgian tenor horn virtuoso Tim De Maeseneer, whilst the format also sees a FREE joint concert with the British Army Band Catterick to be held on the Friday night, followed by a full day of workshops on the Saturday.

Delegates can choose to attend one or both events.

Saturday 15th February:
10.30am — 5.00pm
Saxhorn Fest full workshop day for tenor horn and baritone players and featuring workshops and solo recitals.

Tickets are £20 for full price or £13 for concessions.

The event will also feature the British Army Saxhorn Ensemble, comprising professional tenor horn and baritone players from the British Army.

The Saturday also features a separate Youth Focus workshop for younger delegates, sponsored by Band Supplies and hosted by Reg Vardy baritone soloist Fiona Casewell.

The festival has gained valuable support from Besson, Brass Bands England and Yamaha, and will feature trade stands showcasing the latest instruments and merchandise.

Chinnor Silver

June 7 • Our Community Band is meeting on Monday {9th} and would welcome anyone who fancies an extra friendly rehearsal,with coffee and cake involved.. We rehearse in our bandroom at 11am its free and it open to all abilities.. No commitment required.


Epping Forest Band

June 6 • Epping Forest band have a vacancy for solo horn. We are a friendly 3rd section band with a variety of gigs through out the year. We have our own band hut with close to links with London Underground central line and the M11 motorway.


Chelmsford Silver Bnad

June 6 • Front row cornet, solo horn & trombone players. We are a friendly, active non competition band established 75 years performing regularly in Chelmsford & Essex. Rehearsals averaging 26 players on Wednesday evenings at Broomfield Methodist Church Chelmsford
