New trio adds to to sense of qualifying excitement for Northop

Northop Silver Band has announced a trio of new signings as they look ahead to securing a second successive National Final qualification berth at the Welsh Regional Championship in Swansea in March.

Signings

Alice Newbould joins the cornet section from Crewe Brass where she was principal cornet. She will be joined by the experienced Gethin Rees from Rainford on solo Eb tuba, alongside the returning Jamie Owens.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Alice is a very talented young player from Northop village and is also a member of the Junior RNCM, National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

We would like to thank Gareth Skillander for stepping in and covering on Eb tuba during 2019, and also John Williams for moving onto Bb tuba to complete the section with Andy Pritchard.

Our thanks also go to cornet player John Hughes for his long and loyal service to the band."
