There have been a number of significant changes to the playing ranks of Llwydcoed Band as they prepare for the start of the 2020 contest season.

These include the recent new arrivals of the talented cornet player Iwan Hill from Pontardulais Band as well as the vastly experienced euphonium player Martyn Patterson from Tredegar.

Progress

Speaking to 4BR, MD Chris Turner said that the arrival of the duo further confirms the progress the current Welsh National Eisteddfod champion is making as they look towards claiming qualification to the London National Finals and the British Open in 2020.

"These signings fill two missing pieces for the band,"he said. "Martyn needs little introduction having played with Cory and Tredegar in recent years, and as a Yamaha euphonium endorsee his experience at the very highest level will be invaluable to us.

Iwan Hill is such a keen bandsman who is developing into a fine player and is a wonderful addition to our cornet section."

New signings

He added: "We have been able to attract a number of new signings in the past few months as we move from strength to strength. It's an exciting time to be a member of Llwydcoed Band and I'm sure 2020 will prove that."
