Childs to lead youth event in Cardiff

Dr Robert Childs and the talented students of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama will offer a warm musical welcome to the next generation of star players — and you can be part of it for free.

RWCMD
The Royal Welsh Collge will play host to the free event

Dr Robert Childs will be leading an exciting Junior Brass Band Workshop at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff on Saturday January 18th.

Free event

The free event is aimed at encouraging and inspiring young players of Grade 5 standard and above and is open to those of school age.

The day starts at 9.30am and will go onto 1.00pm when the event will close with an impromptu concert in the Dora Stoutzker Hall to showcase the progress made on the music performed.

Fun with purpose

Speaking to 4BR about the day, Dr Childs, who is Brass Band Study Area Leader at the College said: "This will be a fun day with a purpose — and all with the support of some of the finest young brass and percussion students of the Royal Welsh College.

All the youngsters have to do is turn up with their instruments and be prepared to enjoy themselves. The short concert at the end will show just how much progress can be made in a few hours, so please come along and join in the music making."
