The London Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of James Fountain as its new joint-Principal Trumpet.
He will take up the role in February alongside fellow joint-principal Paul Beniston and Anne McAneney to become part of a highly respected brass section.
Student appointment
James was appointed Principal Trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015 at the age of 20 whilst still a student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He is a former principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, the GUS Band and Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
He is also a member of the highly acclaimed brass ensembles Septura and Superbrass and is Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music.
On his Twitter feed he said that he was "delighted"to be joining the orchestra and thanked the RPO for "an amazing five years."
