Following their second successive runner-up finish at the Brass in Concert Championship, Carlton Main Frickley has announced the appointment of Allan Withington as their new professional conductor.

The partnership will make their contest debut together at the Yorkshire Regional Championship in March.

Reputation

Band Manager, Robert Browne told 4BR: "We're obviously thrilled to have been able to secure Allan's services.

His musical reputation speaks for itself and after discussing with him our ambitions we knew it was a wonderful opportunity to work with one of the banding world's premier conducting talents."

He added: "We've been privileged over the past couple of years to work with some fantastic conductors and this has been an ongoing ambition, so to link up with Allan preludes another hugely exciting chapter for the band."

4BR was informed that Allan will work alongside Musical Director, Ian McElligott.

Impressed

Giving his own view on the new partnership Allan told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to this new appointment with a band that certainly shares my musical outlook. I've been very impressed by the organisation and the commitment of the players."

He added: "I've always given 100% in my commitment in any appointment and so I hope this will help enable the band to reach new heights.

Success is relative to the work put in and I'm excited to look ahead to the Yorkshire Regional Championships."
