Grimethorpe help cover number 1 spot

Grimethorpe Colliery Band has helped the Children in Need

Grimethorpe Colliery Band has certainly played its part in helping the BBC Children in Need album 'Got It Covered' reach the number 1 slot in the hit parade.

The Yorkshire band accompany actor and local lad Shaun Dooley in his rendition of Taylor Swift's 'Never Grow Up' — with the band joining a stellar cast list of celebs such as Oscar winning actress Olivia Colman, Jodie Whitaker of 'Doctor Who' and the great Jim Broadbent in helping raise funds for the Children in Need charity.

Thrilled

The album has been so successful already that it has beaten the likes of Van Morrison, James Blunt and Jeff Lynne's ELO to the top spots on the UKiTunes and Amazon charts.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We're thrilled that the album is doing so well for such a wonderful cause. Nobody can quite remember the last time if any that a brass band on a track was part of a number 1 album — but this has been a real privilege to be part of."
