Sovereign opt for Turner lead for 2020 Area

Sovereign Brass has announced that conductor Chris Turner will lead the band at the top section Midlands Regional Championship in 2020.

The Welshman has made a significant mark with his work with Llwydcoed Band in Wales over the last few year, leading them to success in winning the Welsh League series, National Eisteddfod, Wychavon and Welsh Area First Section titles. The will return to the Grand Shield in 2020 after gaining promotion from the Senior Cup this year.

Media & Events coordinator Rebekah Lock told 4BR: "We're really excited to have the opportunity to work with Chris and we're sure he will bring confidence, energy and determination to the band both for the regional contest and our other projects".

She added: "Chris has also played for some of the world's finest bands such as Black Dyke and Cory and has an understanding of what it takes to excel at all levels of competition."

His first appearance with the band will be in concert at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on the 11th December.
