14 bands will take to the stage this weekend (Saturday 2nd November) for the Borders Entertainment contest to be held in Kelso North Church.
The rivals from Sections 2 to 4 will each present a 15 minute mini-concert programme in their bids to impress adjudicators Paul Drury and Derek Broadbent.
Written and oral adjudication
Each band will receive a written adjudication as well as an oral spoken review as they seek to claim their share of the generous prize fund, individual and section prizes.
Competition Secretary Christine Calvert told 4BR: "We're pleased with the entry this year and look
forward to hearing and meeting everyone in Kelso on Saturday.
There is no host band this year so the organisation has fallen on the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association's Committee who have worked hard to pull the event together."
Thanks
She added: "The event has been brought to compere, Alisdair Hutton's church, Kelso North Church to thank him for the many years help that he has given the association with our contest. It would not be the same without his dulcet tones introducing each band."
The first band is on stage at 10.30am with the results expected around 6.00pm. Audience entry is by donation.
2020
It was also announced that the 2020 Borders Entertainment Contest will be held in the Buccleuch Centre, Langholm on Saturday 7th November and hosted by Langholm Town Band.
