European conductors invited to apply for Palanga 2020

Conductors can now enter the 8th European Conductors Competition — with the chance to direct Paris Brass Band in their bid to win big prizes and future baton opportunities.

The European Brass Band Association (EBBA) has announced that the application process to enter the 8th European Conductors Competition, to be held in Palanga, Lithuania in 2020 is now open.

The competition will form one of the central elements of the 43rd European Brass Band Championships, and will be held at the Palanga Concert Hall, from 28th to 30 April.

Elements

The competition will consist of two preliminary rounds, and a final, in which finalists will conduct former French National Champion and 2019 European Championship runner-up, Paris Brass Band.

There will be prizes of EUR 2500, 1500 and 750, as well as special awards for the three finalists.

Applications

Applicants must have been born on or after January 1st, 1985 and are native to or resident in EBBA member countries.

Harrogate Band

June 15 • After a fantastic result at the Wetherby Drovers Contest, The Harrogate Band are looking for a front row and a back row cornet player to complete the team. Rehearsals Weds 8pm with occasional Sundays at our own bandroom with great transport links

June 15 • We have a vacancy for soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up would love to get this seat filled!. As a second section band,we rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our bandroom in Tintwistle under the baton of MD Jim Henson.
