Ty Cerdd look to promote composer link to community groups

19/20 CoDI Buddies programme looks to promote links between Welsh composers and performing groups and societies.

Following the success of its inaugural initiative, Ty Cerdd has announced the artists call for its 19/20 CoDI Buddies programme that forges links between Welsh composers and performing groups and societies.

Partners

This year, three composers and three performing groups from the Ty Cerdd Network will be partnered through the programme, with each pair being awarded £1000 (shared between composer and society) towards the activity.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "From workshops, to outdoor promenade performances; from a new fanfare for a junior band, to a composer working on a society's recruitment drive: each pairing will decide their own focus."

Aim

The aim is to help composers forge relationships with community music-makers, and to produce a lasting legacy of partnerships and high-quality new work.

At the end of the process, the pairing judged by the panel to have the most potential to move forward together to create a piece for the concert platform will be awarded an additional commission fee of £1000.
