Deep Purple return with Desford

One of the iconic brass band uniforms will be making a welcome return to the Royal Albert Hall stage this weekend.

30 years after Desford Band claimed a historic hat-trick of National titles, the band will once again take to the Royal Albert Hall stage in their iconic purple jackets thanks to Musicwearetc.co.uk

The band actually went on to win the title a fourth consecutive year (following the then requirement to miss a year!) — a feat that has yet to be emulated.

Back in purple

Speaking to 4BR, Musicwearetc.co.uk Development Manager Lloyd Shipp said that the band was delighted that they will be back in purple for the big day.

"It's been a long held ambition of everyone associated with Desford that a unique part of its heritage will be on show once again.

Those great victories and the success the band had under the likes of Albert Chappell, Howard Snell and James Watson were all achieved playing in those uniforms, and with the current band on such brilliant form at present there wasn't a better time to make the link once more."

Signature range

The new uniforms are part of a 'signature range' that is proving popular with bands all over the world, with Musicwearetc.co.uk able to tailor each uniform to the exact requirements of the players.

"That the beauty of them,"Lloyd added. "We all change a little over the years — even Dean Morley, Kevin Crockford and Sarah Latham (above) who were all part of that hat-trick success 30 years ago. They fit as snugly into their new stage jackets as they did in their younger days!"
