Alexis Demailly has announced that after 10 hugely enjoyable years, he has taken the decision to relinquish his role as principal cornet of Paris Brass Band.
The renowned performer and Besson artist has until now been able to include his commitments to the band with his professional work at the Paris Opera and as Assistant Professor at the National Superior Conservatory of Music of Paris.
Meant so much
However further professional demands has meant that he has had to take the decision, as he explained exclusively to 4BR. "This is one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to take with my professional playing career, as being a member of Paris Brass Band has meant so much to me.
My professional commitments now make it impossible to give the band the dedication it deserves. I cannot express enough my gratitude and thanks to Florent Didier and to every player of the band over the last 10 years for what pleasure they have given me to perform with them."
So grateful
He added: "I am so grateful and know that the band will continue to go from strength to strength. The memories will never fade — from the very first rehearsal together to coming runner-up at the European Championship and of course being the very proud winners of the French National title on so many occasions.
I will always be a supporter and fan. It has been an unforgettable musical adventure, but sometimes the right choices are the most difficult to take."

Success
During his tenure as principal cornet Alexis helped the band to claim seven French National titles as well as win the French Open Championship in Amboise.
He was principal cornet with the band on six European Championship appearances, including their 5th place finish in 2016 and in coming runner-up in 2019, leading to their invitation to compete at the 2020 British Open Championship.
