Camborne Music Festival looking for brass entries

The Camborne Music Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with a spotlight on talented brass band talent.

The festival is looking for entries from brass and percussion players

The Camborne Music Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a brand new website and an exciting syllabus in what should be a golden year for this landmark musical event in west Cornwall.

"We're open for entries now and there are no fewer than 150 classes listed in the syllabus this year for musicians of all ages,"Alvine Holmes, Chairman of the Festival told 4BR.

"Young people and adults alike can take part in a very wide variety of classes. These include vocal, pipe organ, keyboard, handbells, piano accordion, composition, guitar, strings, recorders and woodwind as well as brass — whether cornet, euphonium or percussion!"

Brass section

The brass section is a high point, throwing a spotlight on talented local musicians some of whom play in the area's bands. The new annual Menin Gate prize offers £100 to the top soloist (including percussion) under the age of 18.

Alvine added: "A warm welcome is extended to everyone who comes along to listen to and encourage performers young and old."
