A brand new initiative to help support the growing foundations of the German brass band movement is being spearhead with the help of Yamaha.
The German Youth Brass Band (DJBB) will undertake it first phase of development in October in the city of Jena with a four-day workshop led by the renowned Yamaha trombone artist and brass band conductor and adjudicator, Armin Bachmann.
The initiative, sponsored by Yamaha comes under the organisational umbrella of the emerging German Brass Band Association (DBBV) in cooperation with the Competence Centre for Brass Band in Jena.
Thrilled
Spokesperson and project manager Alexander Richter told 4BR: "We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to help develop young brass band musical talent.
It means that the delegates will be able to enjoy four days of world class tuition and rehearsal not just with Armin, but also alongside performers of the calibre of Stanley Westh (principal cornet of Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag), Helen Varley, solo horn at Grimethorpe Colliery Band and Markus Trinkl, the professional percussionist of the 3BA Concert Band."
4BR was informed that the initiative is being centred on player aged 16-22.
