4BR has been informed of the death of the hugely respected sound engineer Richard Scott. He was 64, and had fought a steadfast and determined battle with cancer.
Richard passed away peacefully at Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton-under-Lyne on 4th August.
Outstanding recordings
Father to Michael and Stephen, and husband to Jane, Richard will be solely missed in the recording studios by a host of brass bands, choirs, composers and orchestras, where his world class expertise and remarkable professional knowledge ensured the production of outstanding recordings.
After graduating from Surrey University, Richard began his career at the famous Strawberry Studios in Stockport. In the subsequent years he became the 'must have' recording engineer and producer.
His name appears on numerous award winning recordings and productions from Black Dyke to the Halle Orchestra and countless other ensembles and solo artists.
A Yorkshireman with a love of cricket, (a game both sons took up to provide him with endless hours of pleasure) his wife Jane was his perfect 'batting partner'.

Proud
A family spokesperson said: "It was an innings he and all who knew him, could be proud off."
Since his illness was diagnosed he received wonderful support from the teams at The Christie Hospital, Salford Royal, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Tameside General and finally Willow Wood Hospice.
The family continue to raise funds for The Christie with Michael accompanied by his girlfriend Laura tackling Mount Kilimanjaro with ease. Details of the funeral service will be published in due course.
