The death has been announced of the respected cornet player Norman Christie

4BR has been informed of the death of Norman Christie, a former cornet player with Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick, Fairey and Kings of Brass. He also played for a number of years with Diggle Band, Ashton and the Tubular Brass project.

Privilege

Giving details on the band's Facebook site, it stated: "Diggle was fortunate to have Norman as part of the front row for a very long time.

Norman was a lovely man with a big heart and a good sense of humour who often filled the room with laughter. He was kind, caring, funny and will be sadly missed by all who ever had the privilege to meet him. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to Norman's family, Emma, Sam & Ellie."

Funeral

The funeral will be held on Thursday 1st August at St Chads Church, Uppermill at 10.30am followed by a service at Hollinwood Crematorium at 12 noon for all who want to attend. Family flowers only. No formal dress code required.
