Wardle Academy enjoyed their visit to Kneller Hall

The European Youth Championship Development Section champion Wardle Academy Youth Band has just enjoyed a taste of military life after performing at the British Army's iconic musical headquarters at Kneller Hall.

Wonderful visit

The band led by Lee Rigg was invited to perform at the annual Summer Concert series which also saw the youngsters enjoy a wonderful visit to see the fantastic exhibits at Kneller Hall museum as well as hear about the type of musical careers that are available in the British Army.

The band then delighted the audience in the grounds by producing a concert programme that included renditions of 'Intrada Festiva', the European test-piece, 'Argos', 'Swingin' bones', 'Firebird' and much to the delight of all those with a military connection, the march 'The Great Little Army'.

This really was a highlight of the concert calendar for the band this yearJulie Morris, Head of Music at Wardle Academy

Highlight

Julie Morris, Head of Music at Wardle Academy told 4BR: "To round off their visit the band also got to enjoy The Band of the Scots Guards in action, culminating in a grand firework display.

This really was a highlight of the concert calendar for the band this year."
