The City of Bradford Band has announced that solo trombone player Dan Eddison is handing over the leadership of the organisation's 'First Blast' development band to his father, Gordon.

Dan has led 'First Blast' which caters for both young and older players since returning to Yorkshire after completing his Masters last year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Ready

He told 4BR: "I've been really struggling to give 'First Blast' the time they deserve recently due to my work as a freelance trombonist,"before adding with tongue firmly in his cheek, "I think my Dad is just about ready to take them now as I've taught him all I know!"

In response Gordon said: "I've always enjoyed 'growing' bands. First Blast is a decent sized group of players with a mix of young learners and older players. We hope to continue to expand the group to a full-sized band.

We have two concerts planned next school term and I hope to take the band to a Music Festival in the New Year".

Come along

He added that the band rehearses every Friday at 7.30pm in Central Bradford. Anyone who wants a blow, perhaps adults who have 'lapsed' or fancy having a go or young players starting out from five notes upwards will be made very welcome.
