BandSafe training is being taken on the road

Brass Bands England will be taking its BandSafe Training programme on an extensive tour around England over the next couple of months.

It follows the recent announcement that the organisation has been granted a Body of Persons Approval (BOPA) from the Department of Education to help them offer bands and organisations safe guarding coverage of the vitally important legislation.

Member and non members

Member and non-member bands as well as organisations and contest organisers are being encouraged to attend the events which will cover all aspects of the legislation and its effects in relation to Child Performance Licensing issues.

The three-hour course is designed for all safeguarding officers and covers the legal basis of safeguarding through to the practical steps required to ensure a safe environment for everyone. The course has been developed with the NSPCC and tailored specifically to the needs of brass bands.

Access training

BBE Partnership and Development Manager, Alex Parker, commented: "To make sure all bands are able to access this training, the team at BBE is to take the BandSafe Training around the country in July and August.

Bands wishing to make use of the BBE BOPA must send two members on a BandSafe Training session at least every two years.

To ensure the quality of the training, courses are strictly limited in numbers, so please don't delay in booking."

Book a place

To book a place please visit www.bbe.org.uk./events and select the venue you wish to attend.

Places are £60.00 per person for members of BBE (£100 for non-members).

Membership of BBE for adult bands starts at £100.00 with discounts available for signing up by Direct Debit.
