Black Dyke is to showcase its programme to Pondasher fans and band lovers ahead of their appearance in the inaugural BrassPass 'Band of the Year' Contest in Manchester's Stoller Hall on Saturday 22nd June.

It will also provide an unique opportunity to hear the three new works that the Queensbury outfit will perform under the baton of Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs from major compositional figures — including their new test-piece, 'Heroes for Brass and Percussion' by the Emmy award winning American composer Bruce Broughton.
In addition there will be the opportunity to hear 'A Brighter Light' by Philip Wilby which will open their programme, and two movement's from Peter Graham's new 'Baritone Concerto' — entitled, 'Tide' and 'Turbulence' performed by Katrina Marzella.
Time and place
The event takes place at Morley Town Hall, Leeds on Thursday 20th June. Admission is free and doors open at 7.30pm with the rehearsal starting promptly at 8.00pm.
The band will also be performing at the Gala Concert at the contest with euphonium virtuoso David Childs.
