New MD at Wigston Band

The experienced Geoff Wood has taken up the Musial Director role at Wigston Band.

Wigston
Geoff Wood will be the new MD at Wigston Band

The Wigston organisation has announced the appointment of Geoff Wood as the new MD of its senior band.

Beginning his banding career in 1973, he has played with the likes of Desford, Hathern and Ratby on cornet and flugel as well as taking up the baton successfully with a number of bands across Leicestershire.

Talent

He told 4BR: "I'm privileged to have been offered the role with the band and look forward to working with them going.

They have great talent around the stands and a team of dedicated members mentoring the next generation of players and which gives the Wigston oganisation solid ground to build on."

Looking forward

In response, a band spokesperson added: "We are looking forward to working alongside Geoff, learning from his wealth of experience, enjoying a new repertoire of music and strengthening our position within the Second Section."

It was announced that the new partnership will make its debut in a concert at Melton Park on Sunday 30th June.
