Elland Solo & Quartet Contest still open for entries

The popular Elland Solo & Quartet Contest still has a few places to fill...

Elland
Elland hopes to attract plenty of different instrumentalists to the event

4BR has been informed that there is still time to send your entries in for the popular Elland Slow Melody Contest.

The event takes place on Saturday 22nd June (10.00am) with the first of full day of Junior and Senior solo and quartet sections. The closing date is 7th June and all the cases are pre-drawn.

30th anniversary

2019 is the 30th anniversary of the contest and will be followed by a celebratory evening gala concert by Elland Silver Band at the local Blackley Baptist Church.

Band Secretary Kathleen Harrison told 4BR: "We've gone the extra mile this year to update the contest. The new venue offers superb acoustics, separate warm-up facilities and refreshment area.

We are also able to offer entrants the option to use piano accompaniment thanks to the support of the church and to our main sponsor Band Supplies, Leeds."

Band Supplies will also be attending the event offering a range of products to try and buy.
