World Rankings — May update

Following the recent European Championships in Montreux, no less than five European bands occupy top 10 ranking spots with Paris Brass Band up to fifth after their heroics in Montreux.

The latest Band Supplies — 4barsrest.com World Rankings see changes across almost the entire spectrum following a busy month or so.

Cory's massive lead at the top has grown further following yet another major success at the European Championships, where Paris Brass Band's second place saw it moving up a staggering 21 places into the top five. Challenge Section winner Brass Band Regensburg also made significant strides following a great weekend for Germany in Montreux.

Other ranking contests held since the last update were:

Australian National Championships — won by Sydney City Brass;
Irish Championships — won by Drogheda;
NABBA Championships — won by Fountain City;
Northern Ireland Brass Band League — won by 1st Old Boys Silver;
Dublin Festival of Brass — won by Oakland University;
Buxton Brass Band Festival — won by Ratby Co-operative;
Holme Valley Contest — won by Hade Edge;
Oslo Brass Festival — won by Manger Musikklag.

The next update will include the results of the forthcoming Spring Festival, where we can be almost certain there will be a few twists and turns!

Wantage Silver Band

August 22 • Wantage Concert Brass (1st Section) are looking for a SOLO HORN and PERCUSSIONIST. Under the direction of our dynamic and inspiring MD Daniel Hall. This year we achieved 3rd at the L&SC regionals. We rehearse Tue & Fri 7:30pm- 9:30pm in our own bandhall


Ashington Colliery Band

August 20 • Front Row Cornet & Tenor Trombone. We're a friendly, ambitious Second Section band based in South East Northumberland just north of Blyth. We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays, 19:30-21:30, and transport can be provided depending on location.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
