Dr Martin looks for entries

The lucrative Dr Martin contest is looking for bands to put their name on the programme for a potential £4,000 first prize pay out.

Entries are now open for this year's Dr Martin Contest which will take place at the Princess Alexander Auditorium, Yarm School, Stockton on Tees on Sunday the 8th of September.

Championship Section bands will compete for the Wainstone Cup trophy and a share of the enticing £8,000 prize fund.

£4,000 first prize

All bands will play a march, solo and own-choice test-piece, with the winner's also going home with a hefty cheque for £4,000.

There are also further podium prizes of £2,000 and £1,000, with the fourth placed band winning £500 and with £250 on offer for the 'Best March' and 'Best Soloist'.

Each band will also receive £400 towards their travel expenses.

The contest which takes place the day after the British Open has become increasingly popular with both bands and audience alike, with a new bar area and band changing facilities in place for this year.
